A journey across seven continents, one recipe at a time.
Every great project begins with a moment of hunger. For Sazón, it was a late night in Puerto Rico, a plate of crispy golden mofongo on the table. The question that night wasn’t “what should I eat” — it was “why doesn’t the world know how good this food is?”
That question became an obsession. Puerto Rican food — the pernil, the pasteles, the arroz con gandules — deserved its place on a world stage. So Sazón was born: a recipe site that honors all cuisines equally, with no food considered more “exotic” than another.
Building Sazón meant traveling — not just across countries, but through memories, grandmothers’ kitchens, and family traditions. We asked: what does a Nigerian family eat on Sunday? What is the dish that makes a Colombian homesick?
The answer wasn’t just a recipe — it was a story. Every dish on Sazón carries the weight of culture, history, and love.
Sazón was built by DJ Mr. Perez — a Puerto Rican creator, DJ, and developer who believes that technology should serve culture, not replace it. Using Claude AI as a creative partner, he designed a site that doesn’t just list recipes — it translates them, talks about them, and makes them feel alive.
Sazón means “seasoning” in Spanish — but it means so much more. It’s the specific touch a cook adds to a dish that makes it theirs. Every culture has it. Every dish shows it.
